SGGS Angg 204
Raag Gauree (Gauri) M. 5.
A jeev isteri speaks to her jeev.
Come out O bird soul, and lovingly remember the Lord on your wings, i.e. let your thoughts soar with meditation upon the Lord.
“Nikkas re pankhi simmar Har paankh”
But this flight of simran upon the Lord should be in the Sharan of the Guru. Meditation upon the Lord is to hold tight to the Jewel of His Name.
“Mil sadhu sharan gaho puran Ram rattan hiarey meh raakh” (rahao).
But there are so many burdens upon the soul. There is deep superstition like a well, while thirst for worldly pleasures is mud like and emotional attachments are like a noose upon the jeev.
“Bharam ki kuyee trisna rass pankaj att tikhan moh kee faas”
But there is hope. The God like Guru can cut these bondages; dwell in His Charan Kamal (Bani).
“Kaatanhaar jagat Gur Gobind chaean kamal ta ke karho nivaas”
The jeev isteri now makes a passionate ardas. “You are deena Naath.” Deen means lowly, wretched, weak, helpless. Please listen to my ardas.
“Kar kirpa Gobind Prabh Pritam deena Naath sunho ardas”
My ardas is this: Please hold me tightly by the hand O Lord and Master of Nanak; my jeev and my body belong entirely to You.
“Kar geh leho Nanak ke suami jeeo pind sabh tumri rasa”
