Raag Gauree (Gauri) M.5

Guru Ji gives Divine Advice to all Sikhs.

Conduct yourself in such a way that no filth of bondage (maya, sinful acts) sticks to you; let your mind become awake by singing the Lord’s Praises.

“So kich kar jit mail na laage; Har Kirtan me eh mann jaage.” (rahao).

Meditate upon the One (Lord), and have no love for duality (maya); in holy company sing only Praises of the Name (His Attributes).

“Eko simar na dujja bhao; Santsang jap keval Naao.”

Some devote themselves to good deeds, disciplines, religious rituals, fasts and worship; (but) know this, nothing matters, besides awareness of the Supreme Lord’s sole Sovereignty.

“Karam dharam nem bratt puja; Parbrahm bin jaan na dujja.”

One who has love for God; all his efforts become fulfilled.

“Ta ki puran hoyee ghaal; ja ki preet apne Prabh naal.”

That Vaaishnav (a sect which prides itself on spotless conduct, and strict rituals), becomes Infinite (like Nirankar, not the worshipper of Vishnu who is caught in haumai, time and space); Nanak says, (such a Vaishnaav) must give up all sinful conduct.

“So Baishno hai apar apaar; kaho Nanak jin tajje bikaar.”
