Raag Majh M.5 Bara Maha (Saawan)

This Shabad is about the 5th month of the Indian calendar – Saawan. It is a rainy month and vegetation gets rejuvenated.

The jeev isteri starts yearning to meet the Lord. A spark is ignited within her. But she knows that only His Grace will allow her to meet the Lord.

“Har milne no man lochdaa karam milavanhaar”

She will only blossom with joy if she has love for the Lord.

“Sawan sarsee kaamni Charan Kamal seyo pyar”

Her mind and body must be coloured by love for the True One and His Name must be her only support.

“Man tan rataa Sach rang Eko Naam adhar”

She must have this inner understanding that the colours of maya are all false and all that is seen shall turn to ashes.

“Bikhiya rang kurhaviya dissan sabhe shaar”

Bhai Ji added on 15.7.24:

Guru Ji’s Bara Maha speaks of the changes in nature that take place every month. At the same time Guru Ji uses the external backdrop to describe the changes in the avastha of the jeev isteri.

In relation to the month of Saawan, Guru Ji says, the bride souls who love Gurbani (Charan Kamal) experience great inner joy.

“Saawan sarsi kaamni Charan Kamal seyo pyar.”

For such blessed soul brides (Sikhs), they are coloured with true love for God, and Naam is their only Support.

“Mann tann ratta Sach rang Eiko Naam Adhaar.”

Do gather in shukrana of Guru Ji/God, and pray for His Blessings in the incoming month of Saawan.

The blessed Sikh has read Guru Ji’s Bani relating to the month of Saawan. Let the Bani mesmerise you. Reflect upon the Divine Messages Guru Ji gives us in relation to the month of Saawan.
