Raag Todee (Todi) M.5

A Sikh is so happy to be in the Guru’s Sharan. He pleads for Naam pargass and Sadhsanggat, and as a child, yearns for blessings from God.

Lord, O Ocean of Mercy, please abide forever in my heart; please awaken such understanding in me, that I develop love for You, Lord.

“Kirpa Nidh basso riday Har neet; aisee budh karo pargassa laage Prabh sang preet.” (rahao).

Bless me with the dust of the feet of Your slaves that I may touch it to my forehead (please bless me with humility and holy company); from being a great sinner, I have been rendered pure by singing the Lord’s Praises.

Dass Tumare ki paavh dhuraa mastak leh leh laavho; Maha patit te hote punitaa Har Kirtan gunn gaavho.”

Your Will is sweet to me and Your Actions are pleasing to me; I am satisfied with whatever You give me, and I shall chase after no one else.

“Aagya Tumri meethi laago kiyo Tuharo bhaavo; jo Tu deh tehee eh triptay aan na kathu dhaavo.”

I know my Lord and Master is always near at hand, and I am the dust of all feet; only if one is blessed with Sadhsanggat, does one get to meet the Lord.

“Sadh hi nikatt jaano Prabh Suami saggal rein hoye rehiye; Sadhu sanggat hoye prapat ta Prabh apna lehiye.”

Forever and ever I am Your child, and You are my Lord King; Nanak is Your child, and You are my Mother and Father, Your Name is like nourishing milk in my mouth.

“Sada sada ham chorey Tumre Tu Prabh hamaro Meera; Nanak barak Tum Maat Pita mukh Naam Tumaro kheera.”

Bhai Ji further elaborated on September 11, 2024:

A Sikh prays for such matt (Understanding) to be infused in him, that he enshrines the Lord in his heart, and falls in Love with God.
“Kirpa Nidh basso ridhe har neet; Taisi budh karo pargassa laage Prabh sang preet.”

May I be blessed with the dust of the feet of Your slaves (humility), and may I, a great sinner, be rendered pure by Singing Your Praises.
“Dass Tumare ki pavho dhura mastak le le laavho; maha patit te hote punita Har Kirtan Gunn Gavho.”

May I always abide happily with Your Will, and gladly accept all Your Actions; May I be satisfied with whatever You Give me, and chase after no one else.
“Aagya Tumari mithi laago kiyo Tuharo Bhavho; Jo Tu Deh tahi eih triptay aan na kathu dhaavho.”
