Many fear death. It terrifies them. Only God can remove these fears.

A Sikh pleads with God. Please preserve my honour and dignity; the fear of death has entered my heart. I cling to Your Sanctuary O Ocean of Mercy.

“Har Ju rakh leho patt meri; jamm ko trass bheyo urr antar Sharan gehi Kirpa Nidh Teri.” (rahao).

I am a great sinner, foolish and greedy, now at last, I have grown weary of sinning; I cannot overcome this fear of death; this anxiety is consuming my body.

“Maha patit mugadh lobhi funh karat paap abh haraa; bhey marbey ko bisrat nahin teh chinta tann haraa.”

I have been running around in ten directions trying to liberate myself; the Pure Immaculate Lord abides within me, but I did not ever grasp this mystery.

“Kiye upaav mukat ke kaaran deh diss ko uthh dhayaa; ghat hee bhittar bassey Niranjan Ta ko maram na payaa.”

I have no merits, and I know nothing about meditation, or disciplines, what should I do now?; O Nanak, exhausted, I have taken Your Sanctuary. God please bless me with the gift of fearlessness.

“Nahin gunn nahin kach japp tapp kaun karam abh kijjay; Nanak haar pariyo Sharnagat abhay daan Prabh dijjay.”
