Raag Bilaaval (Bilawal) – Bhagat Kabir Ji.
Bhagat Ji expresses his views about the dangers of maya. It is subtle, yet very destructive, and distances you from God.
This maya has made me forget Your Feet (Bani), Lord and Master of the Universe; not even a bit of love wells up in Your humble servant, what can Your poor being do?
“Ein maya Jagdees Gosain Tumre Charan bisarey; kinchatt preet neh upjay jann ko jann kaha karey becharey.” (rahao).
Accursed is the body, accursed is worldly wealth, accursed is maya, and accursed is the shrewd intellect of perishable understanding; please restrain and hold back this maya by Your Words (Revelations of Gurbani, Shabad).
Bhagat Ji uses the word “dhrig.” It means something lowly and accursed which puts you into karmic bondage and punishment.
“Dhrig tann dhrig dhan dhrig eh maya dhrig dhrig matt budh fanhee; eis maya ko dhrirh kar rakho bandhe Aap Bachanee.”
What good is farming (Bhagat Ji is speaking of planting karmic seeds of maya in the body field), and what good is trading (in perishables of maya), all worldly entanglements and pride are false; Kabir says at the end they face ruin when the final moment of death ultimately comes.
“Kya kheti kya leva deyi parpanch jhuth gumaana; kahe Kabir te antt bigutay aaya kaal nidhaana.”
