Raag Assa – Asa – Bhagat Kabir Ji.

Bhagat Ji describes the Union (marriage) of the jeev isteri with Her Husband Lord.

It is a marriage in spiritual terms. Just as a bride gets herself ready with all decorations, Bhagat Ji says the body and mind were decorated and made ready for the Union. The body was the dying vat (a vessel in which clothes are coloured. Here the reference is to laal rang (color of Love for God) and the mind was repeatedly dyed in the colouring vat. As in any marriage there is a janjj, a baraat. The five elements, (fire, water, air, earth, space) i.e. the entire body are the baratees. The marriage vows are with the Lord, my King; my inner being is drenched with His Love.

“Tan rehni mann punn rap kar ho pancho tatt baratee; Ram Rai seyo bhavar lehyo aatam teh rang ratee.”

The jeev isteri encourages other brides (saintly ones) to sing marriage songs of the Lord. (Shabads); the Lord, my King has come to my house as my Husband.

“Gavho gavho ri dulhani mangalchara; merey greh aaye Raja Ram Bhatara.”

(At Angg 311, Guru Amardas Ji tells us the Shabad is the Bhataar/Husband who showers Divine joy always.)

(“Sacha Shabad Bhataar hai sada sada raaveiye”).

Within the lotus of my navel, I have made my bridal pavilion, and I recite the Divine Wisdom of God; I have obtained the All Pervading Lord as my Husband – such is my great good fortune.

“Nabh kamal me bedi rach le Brahm Gyan ucharaa; Ram Rai seyo Dulho paaiyo as vadbhag hamaraa.”

The angels, the holy men, the rishi munis, God’s humble servants the 330 million deities have come to witness this Spectacle;  Kabir says I have been taken in marriage by the Blessed Primal Lord.

“Sur nar mun jan kautakk aaye kot tettis ujaana; Kahe Kabir mohe biahe chaley hai Purakh Ek Bhagvaana.”
