Raag Gauree (Gauri) Kabir Ji.

A Pandit spoke to Kabir Ji and claimed his astronomical charts and almanacs could show one’s future. Bhagat addresses the Pandit and reminds him that he had forgotten that those stars and planets were placed there by Ram, the All Pervading Lord and it was He who decided man’s destiny. Not the stars and planets created by Him.

The Shabad starts by posing a question. The stars that can be seen in the sky, who is the Painter who painted them?

“Oye jo dissay ambar tarey; kin oye chitay chitanharey”

In the rahao the pandit is further asked – what is the sky attached to?, (what is holding it up?). Only a very fortunate one will realize this.

“Kaho re pandit ambar ka seyo laaga; bujhay bujhanhaar sabhagaa” (rahao).

The sun and the moon give us external light; but pervading them and all creation is the Lord Himself.

“Suraj chand kare ujiaara; sabh me pasreeaya Brahm pasaraa”

Kabir Ji says only he will know this who has enshrined the Lord’s Name in his heart and who recites the Lord’s Name. (i.e. enlightenment about destiny comes from God’s Name, not the stars or the almanacs of the pandit).

“Kaho Kabir janega soye; hirday Ram mukh Ramey hoye”
