Dhanasri M. 1
Amazing Shabad sewn into a Divine Fabric, with questions and answers, all centred around Naam and Love for God.
This Shabad has four Rahaos, which is quite extraordinary.
It means there are four Central Divine Ideas (Revelations/Teachings) the Guru wishes to impart in this Shabad.
The jeev is terrified. The ways of the world are frightening. To Whom should I cry out? I have been serving the Lord who destroys all pains and is always the Giver, forever and ever.
“Jio darat hai apna keh seyo kari pukaar; Dukh Visaran sewiya Sada Sada Dataar.”
The first message for all Sikhs is that the Master you serve must be forever fresh and new (not someone who decays and dies over time like mortals) and is always the Giver, forever and ever. (does not depend on bheta from his chelas for his daily needs).
“Sahib mera nit nava Sada Sada Dataar.” (Rahao).
We are all caught in various bondages. As you serve this Master, He must have the Power to finally release you from all bondages; listening to my ardent pleas for release, He takes me across.
“Andin Sahib sewiye antt chadaye soye; Sunn Sunn meri kaamni paar utara hoye.”
Next Guru Ji says it is the Naam of this Merciful Sahib which actually takes you across, and one should always adore Naam.
“Dyaal Tere Naam Traa; Sadh Kurbane Jaoo.” (Rahao).
One must yearn for Union with this Merciful Master, to a level where one cannot survive without Him; Seek to be blessed with constant attachment to His Name (only that can save you and lead to Union with Him).
“Tudh Bajh Pyare Kev Raha; Sa Vadiaiye Deh Jit Naam Tere Laag Raha.”
The yearning must be towards One Beloved only, conscious and aware there is no other to whom she can address her pains.
“Dujja Nahi Koye Jis Aage Pyare Jahe Kaha.” (Rahao).
Now there is relief as the jeev isteri engages in His sewa, and asks from no other; Guru Ji says Nanak is His Slave every bit by bit, moment by moment.
“Sewi Sahib Apna Avar na Jancho Koye; Nanak Ta Ka Dass Hai Bindh Bindh Chukh Chukh Hoye.”
Apart from adoring the Master, Guru Ji now declares he adores the Name of the Master too every bit by bit of his being, every moment by moment.
“Sahib Tere Naam Vitho Bindh Bindh Chukh Chukh Hoye.” (Rahao).
