SGGS Ang 1354

Salok Sehskritee

Raja Parikhshit violated the Ashram of a sage.

He was cursed by the son of the Rishi to die within 7 days.

Raja Parikshit withdrew from public life. His devotees built a fortress on a mountain. Strict security was maintained, and no one was allowed near him.

A few flower bouquets were placed near his Throne daily. An ant emerged from the flowers and the King died from its poisonous bite.

Although Guru Arjun DevJi has not mentioned the story of Raja Parikhshit, in Sehskriti Slok no. 7, Guru Ji’s Slok makes an indirect reference to the story of Raja Parikhshit.

Guru Ji says, one may be surrounded on all four sides by powerful servants and warriors; he may dwell on a high mountain, difficult to scale, and have no anxiety of death; when the Lord Orders, Nanak says, even an ant can take away the life breath of such a well guarded person.

“Baho jattan karta balwant kari sewant sura chatur disseh; bikham thaan basantt uche neh simrant marnung kadanch; hovantt agya Bhagwn Purakhe Nanak kitti saas akarkhatte.”
(Ang 1354).

The time of death is written for you the moment you are born.

“Maran likhaye mandall me aaye.” (Ang 685). In fact, Guru Nanak Dev Ji expresses these same words thrice in SGGS Ji.
(Angs 685, 876, and 1022).

One can take all precautions like the Beast, the Presidential Car. When death strikes, no amount of armor plates, or sophisticated weaponry can block death.
